Youth Work on the street meeting young people where they are—in their communities, away from buildings.
At New Milton Youth Trust, our detached youth work is all about meeting young people where they are—in their communities, away from buildings. Our youth workers engage with young people in parks, local high streets, recreational areas, and other spots they choose to hang out.
This approach helps us reach young people who might not use our building-based services. Our detached youth workers are out in the community one evening a week, with two “surgery” points along their route. These are advertised so young people know where they can drop by for advice, support, or even just a friendly chat—whether it's about life or to organise an impromptu football game.

Our detached youth workers also provide support in two local secondary schools.
We run small group sessions for students needing help with their social, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
We also offer floating support during lunch breaks to be there when young people need it most.
